This is the very first of this type in Nepalese trekking trails offered by Nepal Eco Adventure. This trek is suitable for the enthusiasts of hiking and those interested in exploration of Nepalese culture and lifestyle.

Indigenous Peoples Trail Trekking offers a unique journey to witness and be part of centuries old tradition of the culturally rich indigenous groups. We can experience the culture of the Newars, Tamangs, Sherpas, Thamis, and Majhis. We will visit beautifully built temples and monasteries of gods and goddesses belonging to Hinduism, Buddhism and even Animism.

Along with experiencing the beautiful culture and tradition of different ethnic groups, you will also be gratified by the environment of the surrounding periphery. The trail is bound by majestic Thulo Sailung Peak in north, the beautiful Sun Koshi flowing along the south and Tama Koshi in the east. The perfect blend of nature and culture will give you a treat of your lifetime!

Cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity to the absolutely splendid panoramic Himalayans, from walking through the lush green hills to crossing the snaking rivers on high suspension bridges, this trek provides just right amount of adventure, thrill, and gratification and bountiful of knowledge and entertainment.

We will enjoy the cultural performances of 6 different ethnic groups, home stay, soft trekking, visiting the ancient temples and monasteries, meditation, walking through beautiful forests widening from Dhaulagiri and Annapurna in the west to Numburchuli and Kanchenjunga in the east, along with the Langtang and Dorje Lakpa range.

Homestay is a special attraction of this trek. Throughout the trek we will be staying at different host families that are trained to prepare hygienic food and treat us like family. The homes we pick for homestay are very typical of a specific culture. We can enjoy the dance and music by men and women dressed in traditional attire. Home stay will allow us to study the culture and the people on a very micro level.

Itinerary

Day 1
Kathmandu to Mude (2,580m) and trek to Deurali (2,298m)
Early morning after breakfast, we will drive 115 km to reach the small town of Mude on bank of Sunkoshi River. The scenic bus ride will be around 5 hours long. We will drive through Araniko Rajmarga and reach Dolalghat. Here, we can take a little break and enjoy freshly cooked river fishes. From here we will drive through small settlement of Khadichau and reach Mude. On reaching Mude, we will again take a short refreshment break and trek to Deurali. We will trek through soft hills and trails to reach Deurali. It will take around 3 hours.
Day 2
Deurali to Kholakharka (2,448m)
We will trek along a slender trail to reach the Sherpa village of Kholakharka. It will be around 6 hours trek, moderately easy. We will reach the summit of Thulo Sailung to catch the sunrise over the glorious eastern Himalayan. Standing 3,146 m tall the summit provides splendid view of the Annapurna, Ganesh Himal and Langtang, Everest and Kanchenjunga range! We can also view the lush green Mahabharata range and Sunkoshi River snaking down to lowlands of Terai on the Southern side. We will spend the night in the KholaKharka community center.
Day 3
Kholakharka to Surkey (1,842m)
During this five hour trek we will trek through a small beautiful settlement called Rajbhir. The trek will mostly be downhill for today. We will go across the beautiful Sailung Forest,that houses exotic species of trees, shrubs and birds! We can visit the Rajveer Monastery and receive blessings from the respected Lamas. We will pass through two other villages of Sherpas and Tamangs respectively. We can visit the Gompas in both village. We will pass numerous Gompas, Chortens, Prayer Flags and Mani stones to reach Surkey. Overnight in homestay.
Day 4
Sukrey to Doramba (2,054m)
We will observe the Thami culture program at Tinghare Village before entering the valley of Doramba. It will take us around 4 hours to reach this valley. The trail navigates along forested hillside to the green terraced fields of Doramba. Overnight in homestay.
Day 5
Dormaba to Khandadevi (1,986m)
After a refreshing hike out of Doramba, we will hike to Agleshwari Danda,a sacred Hindu shrine. From here, we can enjoy the beautiful view of the Mahabharata range and magnificent Himalayans looming over it. The trek will be around 5 hours long for the day. Overnight in homestay.
Day 6
Khandadevi to Dongme (1,982m)
After viewing the beautiful sunrise on Himalayan from Khandadevi we will hike towards the valley of Dongme. We will hike through long ridge of pine forest. The trek will be relatively easy today and 5 hours long. Overnight in a camp.
Day 7
Dongme to Lubughat (818m)
Before descending to the village of Lubughar, we will again enjoy the beautiful sunrise on Himalayans form Dongme. We will walk along the massive Sunkoshi River. On arriving Lubughat, we will meet the Majhi people. Majhi literally means fisherman in Nepali. We will observe the lifestyle and tradition of the Majhi people. After the 4 hours trek, overnight in home stay.
Day 8
Nepalthok and drive to Dhulikhel(1650)
We will cross the big river in Majhi boats and exciting suspension bridges to reach Nepalthok. From there we will catch a bus to Dhulikhel. After two hours of scenic bus ride we will reach the medieval town of Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel is renowned for its distinctive Newari culture and the view of Himalayan. We can go around the old town and visit centuries old houses that showcases spectacular Newari craftsmanship. We can visit the historic temples while here. Overnight in a Newari Homestay.
Day 9
Dhulikhel to Kathmandu (1,480m)
After two hours on bus we will reach Kathmandu. You can spend the day further exploring this historic city. You can also go travel to the outskirts of the valley. Buy souvenirs at Thamel, Basantapur and old towns of Patan and Bhaktapur to take back home.

  • Government taxes and other official expenses.
  • Oxymeter to check your pulse and oxygen saturation and heart rate twice daily (Very useful to check Altitude Mountain Sickness(AMS) symptoms) Which will ensure you trek is in the safest hands possible for all levels of trekker.
  • Assistant guide group size above 6+ person.
