Overview

Everest Base Camp is an exciting trekking destination quite popular among trekkers around the world. This incredible trekking package from Nepal Eco Adventure combines this trekking adventure with Island peak climbing. Trekkers will get an all-around experience during this outstanding adventure.

There are various ethnic groups in this region, including Sherpa, Bhotiya, Tamang, and others. Tibetan Buddhism is the most followed religion in the area. Hence, you can find many Buddhist landmarks, including monasteries, gompas, chortens, prayer wheels, prayer flags, and others while trekking.

This Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak climbing trek starts after you arrive in Kathmandu on an international flight. You will get a chance to go on a short sightseeing tour of Kathmandu before flying to Lukla. From Lukla, you will traverse through regular EBC trails passing through Monjo and Jorsale. This trail will lead you to Phakding and Namche Bazaar.

From Namche, you will pass through incredible landscapes to arrive at various settlements of Tengboche and Pheriche. Trekkers will also pass through the protected area of Sagarmatha National Park. You will then travel to Nagarjun before returning to Pheriche. Gorak Shep is your next stop before finally reaching Everest Base Camp.

After experiencing the incredible atmosphere at EBC, you will trek to Kalapathar. You will then travel to Dingboche, and Chukkung, before finally arriving at Island Peak Base Camp. From the base camp, we will complete our mountain climbing adventure to the Island peak summit.

You will then return to Tengboche and subsequently Namche. There is also a buffer day in place in the itinerary in case of any weather-related delays. If you cannot climb the Island peak on the selected day, you can use this buffer day as an alternative. The trail then leads you to Lukla, and then from there, you will fly back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Kathmandu Airport (1,380m)
Kathmandu Altitude: 1380m

Overnight: Kathmandu

Nepal Eco Adventure’s staff will be there at the airport to greet you and take you to your accommodation in Kathmandu. Then, you will get transferred in a private vehicle. You can rest at the hotel or go on a walk along the ancient lanes and alleyways of the city. There will also be a short briefing about Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak tour in the hotel.
Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour.
Kathmandu Altitude: 1380m

Overnight: Kathmandu

We will have our breakfast in the hotel early in the morning before starting our tour. After having breakfast, you can take your trip around the beautiful cultural settlements of Kathmandu valley. There are Heritage sites including temples, palaces, and other cultural monuments.

A professional guide provides a complete tour of various cultural heritages around the city. The travelers will get to visit multiple temples and religious sites. Boudhanath stupa is a beautiful large stupa with an incredible atmosphere.

There are monasteries, Thanka galleries, cafes, hotels, restaurants, and others in the area. Tibetan refugees in large numbers remain settled here. The Swayambhunath Stupa, or the “Monkey Temple,” is famous for its incredible viewpoint overlooking the Kathmandu valley.

The Basanta Durbar Square is our next destination located at the center of the capital city. Moreover, there are Taleju Bhawani temple, Kumari Ghar, and others in this durbar square. You can visit these places and the Hanuman dhoka museum to find many ancient old heritages and monuments.

Moreover, you can also visit the Thamel area nearby. It is a tourist hub where you can find many restaurants, cafes, hotels, bars, nightclubs, etc. After exploring this beautiful city, you can rest in your hotel in the evening and prepare for your trek the next day.
Day 3
Flight to Lukla (2,804m) and a Short Trek to Phakding (2610m)
Phakding Altitude: 2610m

Flight duration: 35-40 minutes

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Phakding

We will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway of Mount Everest. Trekkers will travel to Lukla airport from Kathmandu. This short runway causes many risk factors in this airport as there are cliffs on one side. You can get amazing views from the flight.

You will meet porters for the trek and continue your journey along these trails from Lukla to Phakding. You will continue your trek from Lukla, passing through beautiful landscapes of the Dudh Kosi Valley, crossing suspension bridges.

Besides that, you can also follow the Buddhist landmarks along this journey. The 2-3 hours trek will provide you with an incredible adventure before you arrive in Phakding, where you will rest for the night at a local teahouse.
Day 4
Trek to Namche Bazzar (3,440m)
Namche Bazaar Altitude: 3445m

Walk duration: 4-5 hrs

Overnight: Namche Bazaar

Today, the trek takes you to the region’s commercial hub in Namche Bazaar. It is also the last central town before EBC. We will continue our journey passing through various landmarks before arriving in Namche Bazaar. After crossing several suspension bridges, we will steeply climb the trails of Sagarmatha National Park.

We will need to show the permits and the passes required for this trek. Trekking for 2-3 hours will lead you to a steep climb to Namche. There are two spectacular viewpoints from where you can observe the majestic view of Mount Everest. After arriving at Namche, you can find a lodge or hotel and spend your night there.
Day 5
Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazzar (3,440m)
Namche Bazaar Altitude: 3445m

Overnight: Namche Bazaar

There are various acclimatization days during this high-altitude tour, which helps you adapt to high altitude and extreme temperatures. Hence, you should acclimatize well to complete this trek with ease in the Everest region. There are various exploring points in and around Namche. Even on acclimatization days, you will explore Namche.

Therefore, these hiking measures around the town are ideal for tackling Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). You will ascend to a viewpoint in Syangboche and then hike to Khunde Village. Khumjung Village is eastward along these trails. We will climb to Everest View Hotel further and observe spectacular views of the entire mountain vista, including Mount Everest.

Then, we will trek back to Namche Bazaar and explore the beautiful landmarks of this town. There are various souvenir shops around the city where you can buy stuff for your family back home. You can return to your hotel, rest for the evening, and prepare for your trek to Tengboche the next day.
Day 6
Trek to Tengboche (3,790m)
Tengboche Altitude: 3860m

Walk duration: 5-6 hrs

Overnight: Tengboche

On this Everest Base Camp with Island peak climbing, you will trek to Tengboche from Namche. You will observe spectacular views of snow-capped mountains of the region, including Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, Kwangde, and Nuptse. The trail of this trek will climb up steeply to Sanasa.

The trail of this trek then significantly drops to Phunki Thanka and then climbs uphill for 1-2 hours to arrive at Tengboche. The path of this trek passes through forested trails of rhododendron, pine, and fir trees. There are other magnolia and birch trees that deplete as you move high along the path to arrive at the spiritual Tengboche monastery.

There are a few teahouses and lodges and a bakery beside the monastery in the Tengboche area. This viewpoint is well known for its outstanding mountain views. You will stay near the Tengboche monastery teahouse.
Day 7
Trek to Pheriche (4,280m)
Pheriche Altitude: 4371m

Walk duration: 4-5 hrs

Overnight: Pheriche

A trek descending through the rhododendron forest will take you to Pheriche from Tengboche. We will cross the majestic Imja Khola over the suspension bridge to arrive at Pangboche. From this point, we trek to Pheriche. We trek around 3-4 hours in this section of the trek.

Himalayan Rescue Association in Pheriche assists trekkers and climbers in the Everest Base Camp region to help them tackle altitude sickness. We will continue our tour in these Himalayan trails and finally, arrive at Pheriche and spend the night at a teahouse.
Day 8
Day Trip to Nagarjun(5000m) and Back to Pheriche.
Nagarjun Altitude: 5000m

Overnight: Pheriche

On this day, we will acclimatize in Pheriche as it is essential to tackle high altitude sickness. However, even on acclimatization days, we will hike for some duration. We feed ourselves some healthy breakfast and then observe magnificent views of snow-capped mountains. We will then start our hike of around 800m to Nagarjun peak (5000m).

The peak of Nagarjun provides you with incredible views of Mt. Makalu, which is the 5th highest mountain in the world. This hike also allows you to explore the magical region and observe the wild flora and fauna of the area. Trekkers can observe wild animals during their walk to the peak.

It takes a few hours to get to the top of Nagarjuna peak. We will stay there for some time to explore and observe majestic views and take incredible pictures. Returning to base camp takes around one and a half hours. We will finally descend back to Pheriche and stay at a teahouse.
Day 9
Trek to Lobuche (4,950m)
Lobuche Altitude: 4,950m

Walk duration: 6-7 hrs

Overnight: Lobuche

The trail to Lobuche starts from Pheriche as you steeply climb uphill along Himalayan foothill trails. It will take you around 45-60 mins to arrive at Thukla. We will stop at this village for lunch and then continue our trek alongside a flat area. There you can find a memorial dedicated to expeditioners who have perished on their way.

After that, we will continue our trek for around two hours to arrive at the end of the valley. Then, we continue our walk on a descending trail that will lead you to descend to the yak pastures. We will arrive at Lobuche and then rest to prepare for our hike to Everest Base Camp on the next day.
Day 10
Trek to Gorakshep (5160m) and Hike to EBC (5,545m)
EBC Altitude: 5545m

Walk duration: 7 to 8 hrs

Overnight: Gorakshep

We will wake up early on our trek to EBC, passing through Gorakshep. We will continue our tour on a relatively easy trail to arrive at this beautiful region with many rocky boulders and slippery trails. There are majestic mountains in the area that you can observe along these trails.

The incredible views of the Khumbu glacier will enchant you along these trails. After strenuous trekking, we will arrive at Gorakshep, where we will keep our backpacks. After trekking for 1-2 hours, we hike along the Khumbu glacier to arrive at the spectacular Everest Base Camp.

The EBC has many tents and climbers making their way to Mount Everest and other mountains. You can take incredible pictures and make a memory of a lifetime before heading back. We arrive at Gorak Shep and spend the night there. Gorakshep is also the original base camp and also the last settlement with tea houses along these trails.
Day 11
Climb Kalapathar (5400m) and Trek Down to Dingboche
Kalapathar Altitude: 5400m

Walk duration: 7 to 8 hrs

Overnight: Dingboche

You will wake up early to climb the outstanding viewpoint of Kalapathar. From there, you can observe incredible views of snow-capped mountains, including Mount Everest. The view of Mount Everest is better from Kalapathar than Everest Base Camp. From Gorak Shep, you will trek down before climbing up for quite some time to arrive at Kalapathar.

You will trek to Kala Pathar and observe majestic views of golden sunrise overlooking snow-capped mountains vista of Everest Mahalangur range. It generally takes 2 hours to arrive at the top of Kalapathar, where you can observe Mount Everest, Changtse, Nuptse, Lhotse, and others. Then we will return to Gorakshep, where we will have lunch and then descend back to Dingboche. We will rest for the evening after an adventurous day in Dingboche.
Day 12
Trek to Chukkung (4,760m)
Chhukung Altitude: 4730m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Chhukung

We will begin our trekking on this day with a significant uphill trek from Dingboche. This trek will pass through the beautiful Himalayan settlement before arriving at Chukkung. It takes around 2-3 hours to arrive at this settlement located in a nest of various snow-capped mountains.

The magical views of the river Imja Khola through the Chukkung village is an enthralling experience. After exploring around the village settlement for some time, you will rest for the evening. There are various lodging facilities in the region, including lodges and tea houses, and you will stay in one of them.
Day 13
Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5,100m)
Island Peak Base Camp Altitude: 5,100m

Walk duration: 5-6 hrs

Overnight: Island Peak Base Camp

This is an important day in our trekking journey. We will continue our trip to the base camp of Island peak on this day. This incredible trekking route passes through some of the most challenging ranges. First, we have breakfast and trekking uphill towards the south before trailing east, leading us to the mountain valley.

Finally, we will walk along the lovely landscapes, including a serene waterfall and a glacial stream. We will pass through the Imja glacier that provides you with majestic views of the region. Along the route, we will also pass through the glacier moraine of the Lhotse.

It takes around 2-3 hours to arrive at the base camp, from where we can observe the island’s peak in all its glory. However, we will only observe the southwestern face of the mountain, also known as Imja Tse. Our guides will set up tents in the base camp, where we will spend our evening and prepare for the climb the next day.
Day 14
Climb Island Peak and Return to Chhukung
Island Peak Altitude: 6189m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Chhukung

We wake up early at around 2 -3 am to head out for our Island peak climb. This gets done to avoid the harsh winds that blow in the region after midday. The weather also remains clear in the morning compared to the afternoon.

We trek continuously for 2 hours to arrive at the High camp. We will then gently climb the rocky trail. After that, we will continue our trip to the summit of the Island Peak, passing through the ridgeline. There is a steep, smooth slope that leads to the glacier and then further to the summit.

After arriving at the summit, we can also observe the 360-degree panoramic views of snow-clad mountains, including Everest. After taking incredible pictures of the region and exploring for some time, we will gradually descend to the high camp and finally to the Island Peak Base Camp.

After packing our bags, gathering our items, and cleaning the area, we will continue our journey back to our starting point. We will descend to Chukkung on a short trail where we will rest for the evening.
Day 15
Trek back to Tengboche
Island Peak Base Camp Altitude: 5100m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Tengboche

We will continue our downhill trek on this day as well. After completing our morning rituals, we will start our tour from Chhukung to Tengboche. Firstly, we will walk down the beautiful trails to Pangboche village.

Trekkers can observe beautiful rural settlements of the region to reach Tengboche. It takes around 3-4 hours to arrive at this settlement, where you can find a stunning viewpoint and another monastery. We will rest in the Tengboche teahouse and prepare for our trek tomorrow.
Day 16
Trek to Namche Bazzar
Tengboche Altitude: 3860m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Tengboche

We will continue our trek through various terrains to arrive at the significant town of Namche Bazaar. This remarkable town is known for its vibrant atmosphere and other various landmarks, including cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops. We will continue our journey to multiple routes to arrive at the Namche Bazaar, where we will spend the night at a teahouse.
Day 17
Trek to Lukla.
Namche Altitude: 3500m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Tengboche

This is the end of our trekking journey in Everest Base Camp with Island Peak climbing. We will continue our trek for 6-7 hours from Namche to arrive at Lukla. The trail of this trek takes it through various mountain foothills trails that you can gradually travel. You can trek with ease as this is your last day of the walk.

Therefore, you also get to observe beautiful landscapes and take incredible pictures of the region. We will finally arrive at Lukla and rest at a lodge. You can relax and celebrate the completion of your trek in Lukla.
Day 18
Early Flight to Kathmandu
Lukla Altitude: 2860m

Walk duration: 3-4 hrs

Overnight: Kathmandu

We will take a beautiful flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla. This scenic mountain flight will take you through various landscapes. Trekkers can observe these towering mountains for the last time in this journey from the plane. After arriving in Kathmandu, we will explore around for some time and then rest at a hotel.
Day 19
Final Departure
After around 19 days in the Himalayan nation, we will conclude our trek as you can board a flight to your home.
