Overview
Why trek Annapurna Circuit trek with Nepal Eco Adventure? Well if you’re puzzled by the question or having trouble deciding whether to visit the destination or not then let me put it straight. Annapurna Circuit trek is a complete package of adventure, fun, and challenges. It’s unlike any trekking spot in the world, incredibly stunning and packed with a surreal view of Mt. Annapurnas.
Nepal’s trekking trails are worldwide acclaimed for their spectacular views, dramatic landscapes, and wilderness. Their peaceful setting with unique geological wonders, high-mountain meadows, and glacially carved valleys pull the trekkers from across the world.
Annapurna Circuit trek hosts visitors from all around the world. In fact, it’s one of the few trekking destinations in Nepal, where there’s an overflow of hikers throughout the year. Visitors seem to be flattered walking the demanding trails of the circuit as it provides them an unforgettable experience.
Annapurna Circuit trek is sheer beauty with a pristine trail that offers a minute scene of snow-capped mountains, sweeping hills, and a steep-sided valley. It gives every better reason possible for trekkers to hike the classic trail that heads all the way up to Thorong La Pass.
The trek provides a fascinating insight into the local customs and traditions of different ethnic groups living in the region. But, most importantly, it exposes the visitors to the unique culture, heritage, and lifestyle of the Gurung community.
Visitors will be able to witness the great influence of the people in the region, especially with their villages, historical and religious sites. Other ethnic groups whose spiritual and cultural impacts are equally noticed in the local community are Thakali, Tamang, Magar, and Brahmin.
Annapurna Circuit Trek lies in central Nepal and has a trek length of 100-145 miles. It begins with a half-day drive to Besisahar and a short walk off the mountainside to Bulbule. The trek continues with an uphill walk on the next day and has us crossing several bridges to arrive at Chamje.
We’ll walk past many villages in the following days, including Chame, Pisang, and Manang. Since the trek above Manang is more difficult with low atmospheric pressure, we’ll stop at the village to give the body a whole rest. From Manang, we head to Yak Kharka, which has only a few settlements.
You can see a lot of yaks grazing here, though. From here, we take the most strenuous walk to Thorong Phedi via Thorong La Pass. From the cliff, we’ll get a fantastic view of Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri. After crossing the pass, we’ll descend the trail to Muktinath and visit the religious shrine here. From there, we navigate the path to Jomsom that is rugged and looks more like a desert.
After arriving at the lovely village of Kagbeni, we'll take a short break for breakfast and then immediately rush to the trail. The journey to Jomsom continues with a gentle walk on the trail that overlooks the beautiful Kali Gandaki River before taking a rocky uphill climb.
Walking past the terrace farm and through the brink of the deep valley, we’ll reach the village. The next day, we’ll take a picturesque drive to Tatopani, where you can also enjoy a hot spring bath and then finally return to the valley.
In between the trip, we’ll also take a short uphill walk to Ghorepani, which is one of the trekkers’ favorite spots to stop by and watch the beautiful view of Machhapure and Gangapurna.
A lot of trekkers who’re pushed for time and cannot make it to the circuit trek Ghorepani to catch a beautiful sight of Annapurna. We’ll also be walking the steep trail of Poon Hill to see the beautiful sunrise view. In this way, with Nepal Eco Adventure, you’ll get an amazing experience of trekking the Annapurna Circuit.

It is one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites that’s popular among tourists. You can observe the beautiful view and Buddhist people worshiping from nearby rooftop restaurants with coffee in hand.

The trail then passes lunar landscapes before arriving at Lower Pisang. There are many tea houses and remote settlements where we can stop and have lunch before taking a village tour. Walking further up the rugged hill will take us to Upper Pisang, which is an ancient remote settlement.
The village has long, lined-up prayer wheels, mani walls, and chortens that show the old culture. There are many old monasteries and traditional-style houses in Upper Pisang, which you can explore in your spare time. Tonight, we’ll stay in a tea house.
Walking hours: 6-7 hrs
Overnight at Tea House in Manang
From Pisang, we traverse the roughest trail that has many steep ascents with twists and turns. A section of the course is an arid steppe, the ins, and outs, including high mountain ranges, while a pinewood forest surrounds others.
It walks past the remote settlement of Ghyaru and Nawal that provides a marvelous view of Annapurna III and Tilicho Peak. The path makes its way through Bagra village, graced with traditional villages built by Tibetan habitants.

The route for this tourist attraction is a bit craggy and filled with small rocks and debris, but the landscapes are breathtaking. Surrounded by glistening mountains and rocky hills, the Gangapurna lake itself is tranquil and feeds on melting glaciers.
It lies at an altitude of 3,540 meters and is surrounded by steep hills and glistening lakes
Spend the time here enjoying the picturesque vista and immersing yourself in the natural beauty before retracing the steps back. Standing at the lakeshore, you can catch a glimpse of Mt. Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, Glacial Dom, and Annapurna.

After reaching the top, we’ll find a small tea house to stop over and have lunch. Shortly after the break, we’ll follow the route that passes from landslide-prone areas. Since the path is steep and a bit rough here, filled with tiny rocks, walking the section is slightly more challenging.

Muktinath Altitude: 3,802 meters
Walking Hours: 9 hrs
Overnight at Hotel in Muktinath
Today’s the most challenging and toughest walk of the entire Annapurna Circuit Trek. Climbing up the trail to Thorung La Pass is also long and tiring; therefore, we get up early in the morning to finish the trek on time.
After having breakfast and making all the preparations, we begin our excursion by navigating a zigzagged trail that heads up to the high camp. After a short break at the campsite, we make the final ascent to Thorong La Pass, short but intensive due to low oxygen.
Alone this part of the trek takes 2 hours and more depending on the pace. Upon reaching the crest, we’ll be rewarded with an incredible view of the Annapurna range, Manaslu, Gangapurna, and Dhaulagiri.
As soon as the sightseeing is over, we’ll descend the trail to Muktinath which shall take anywhere between 6-7 hours. On the way, we’ll be crossing the suspension bridge numerous times and steer the rugged trail that heads to Muktinath Valley. After finishing the trek, we’ll spend the night in a tea house.
Walking Hours: 5-6 hrs
Overnight at Lodge in Jomsom
At the crack of dawn, we’ll visit Muktinath Temple and participate in the prayers. After the religious worship and a tour of the holy shrine, we’ll continue on the trek to Jomsom. The path is mostly downhill, so the expedition will be a little easier.
We’ll spend most of our day hiking off-the-beaten-path with downslope and passing several Gurung villages. Along the path, we’ll also witness many Tibetan monasteries, mani walls, and prayer flags. We make our way through Lubra and Kagbeni, a gateway to remote Upper Mustang.
The village is a major tourist attraction with beautifully designed Buddhist monasteries, traditional villages, and towering highlands. You can also enjoy the beautiful sight of the Kali Gandaki River during a stop at Kagbeni.
From there, we have several small streams to cross and pass the terrace farms before the scenery changes. The landscapes are semi-arid from Kagbeni, with a few traces of green vegetation. Most of the trails are rugged and dry, with soaring rock cliffs that visibly look astonishing.
Even at the Jomsom village, we’ll get a splendid view to relish. It includes a breathtaking glimpse of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri at the back of the town straddling on the Kali Gandaki River. Jomsom has plenty of accommodation facilities to offer trekkers along with some upscale resorts.
Tatopani Altitude: 1,200 meters
Driving Hours: 6-7 hrs
Overnight at Fine Lodge of Tatopani
The trip to Tatopani will be a lot more fun and relaxing as we have no trail to walk the entire day. In fact, we’ll just enjoy the scenic ride throughout the trip and give the foot a much-needed rest. Driving the rugged road, we'll pass the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki Gorge.
You’ll notice the arid landforms switch to green hills and pasture before even getting to halfway. From there, we can enjoy the beautiful sights of mountainous ridges, highlands, grassy meadows, and roaring streams.
After a 6-7 hours drive, we’ll arrive at the small village of Tatopani, which is famous for its natural hot springs. These large rock pools with hot water are popular among the tourists visiting Nepal. It lies almost 5 km south of Kodri on the border of Nepal and Tibet
As the water has medicinal and healing powers, locals often visit here to relieve their pain. To ease up and reduce fatigue after the long journey, we’ll also take a bath at this hot spring while enjoying the beautiful scene of towering green hills and a gushing river. Overnight stay in a guest house.
Walking hours: 6-7 hrs
Overnight at Nice Hotel at Ghorepani (Poon Hill)
We’ll get up early today and leave for the trek to Ghorepani that comes with an astounding view. The trek begins with crossing a Kali Gandaki River to the east side, from where we take a gentle but endless ascent uphill. Climbing the stone stairs and walking beside a terrace farm for almost 2 hours, we’ll end up at the lovely village of Ghara.
From here, we’ll follow a steep trail heading to Sikha. Due to the high elevation gain, the trek is a bit demanding and gruesome. The surrounding views of deep valleys, towering hills, and beautiful landscapes make up for the difficulties though. After reaching the village, we’ll stop at a guest house and have our lunch before continuing the journey further.
The trail to Ghorepani has us passing over the terraced farmland and into the dense forest filled with rhododendron, birch, and Mongolia. We’ll also walk from the edge of the hill which provides a stunning view of snow-capped mountains. After a long and arduous climb upward on the last section, we’ll finally arrive at the village.
The total travel length from Tatopani to Ghorepani is 16.9 km and takes anywhere from 6-7 hours depending on the speed. Ghorepani is one of the crowded villages in the entire Annapurna Circuit. It’s a central hub for trekkers and a perfect spot to watch the dazzling view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Hiunchuli.

Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara
Soon after waking up to the first light of the day, we’ll hike up to Poon Hill to witness the mind-blowing sunrise view. The walking distance is 9.5 km and mostly uphill, making us lose our breath. Still, the trek is worth it as we get to see the 360-degree view of Annapurna massif and Nilgiri Himal.
Standing at the viewpoint, we’ll also get to glance at the rolling hills, vibrant valleys, and the beautiful red and orange colors of a sunrise. Upon enjoying the sightseeing, we’ll descend the trail to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara.
The drive from Nayapul to Pokhara lasts about an hour but even in such a little time, the trek gives us some fond memories and amazing views. Once arrived at the Pokhara, you can go on a little tour of the town or take a rest at the hotel.

So, having a porter/porters helps you enjoy the trip freely.
Trekkers who can navigate the trail carrying their backpacks don't need to hire a porter. Individual trekkers who have never traveled to mountainous regions should consider hiring a porter as they reduce the weight from your shoulder and make the trip relaxing just at the cost of US$25 to US$30.
Yes, you can bring extra luggage on the trek unless you’re willing to carry it yourself or hire more than one porter. It’s because a porter can only help with the 15-20 kgs load of an individual hiker. For the excess weight, trekkers will have to pay an additional amount.

It will help them withstand the cold climate at Annapurna Circuit and even Thamserku. Upon returning back to Kathmandu, they’ll have to return the gears back to Nepal Eco Adventure.

There are plenty of shops in Thamel which help trekkers find the needed equipment. It can be on the budget or high standard which is a bit pricey but the qualities are unmatched.

Not just that, looming fog and mist impacts the visibility and reduces the speed of the trekkers. Monsoon rain makes the trek equally difficult for hikers, especially beginners who’ve never walked mountainous terrain.
It makes the trails wet and slippery, so it’s impossible for trekkers to navigate the path without taking a tumble. They get to watch the snow-blanketed meadows, frozen lakes, and glaciers from the lap of Annapurna Circuit. Nights in winter may be chiller here, but the days are refreshingly warm and clear, making it easy to glance at the snow peaks.
Annapurna Circuit Trek in Monsoon

It can even put ice on the travel and ruin the whole schedule. Heavy rain can cause landslides and even block sidewalks. Therefore, trekkers will have to be extremely careful while hiking the routes in the mountains.
Post-rainfall, Monsoon brings a little joy to the visitors and provides stunning views. The waters wash away all the specks of dirt in the air, offering clear pictures of the glacial valleys, towering hills, and beautiful villages. Continuous rain feeds the surrounding rivers and waterfalls to the absolute limit that it looks pretty impressive.
Trekkers can feel the summer heat in the daytime, but nights are slightly cold, with the temperature falling up to -3 Degree Celsius. The rainy season lasts from June to August, so those planning to travel the region will have to prepare for the trek.

The changing weather, endless paths, and rising altitude can be the source of mental stress and anxiety for hikers.
The long-distance walk often gets daunting due to the lack of the right equipment and gear. Therefore, they have to be well-prepared and extremely cautious of what they pick before trekking Annapurna Circuit.
Trekkers have to ensure that they have all the needed essentials to make the trip as comfortable and plain sailing as possible. Lack of confidence can often cause disquiet and panic among trekkers, so trekkers must be emotionally charged.
They have to put enough research on the itinerary and the weather on the Annapurna Circuit. It will give you an idea of what to expect from the trek and how to combat it. Taking a few tips from your tour guide will also help plan the trip and keep your mental strength high.
Essential Equipment
The right equipment at the right place and at the right time can make the journey bliss while its absence can cause havoc. Therefore, trekkers have to make an accurate assessment while choosing the items for the trek. Anyone visiting the circuit must know what gear and equipment are appropriate for the favored season.
This will ease their time on the trail and make it easy to reach the circuit. Simultaneously, they’ll also have to ensure not to carry any extra apparatus that won’t be used even once. This unwanted clothing and equipment will occupy more space in the backpack and make it difficult to walk the trail.
Trekkers in winter will need warm and high insulated clothes, including windproof jackets, gaiters, and mufflers, while those visiting the circuit in Autumn can relax.
