Nar and Phu are two small villages in the lap of the Himalayans. Slender canyons, enchanting forests, ancient monasteries, adventurous pass and absolutely amazing rock formations make this trekking memorable, second to none. The time has stood still for centuries in this valley of three hundred people. Nar Phu Valley Trekking was opened only in 2003. This makes the trekking route uncharted Nar Phu more exciting. Nar Phu Valley Trekking is perfect for those who want a change from the mainstream Annapurna Circuit. The valley is still very much unscathed by modernity, its people oblivious about life beyond the mountains, its beauty and tradition intact. The region was first discovered only in the 1950 by Tillman while walking the highlands of Tibet.

We will start the trek following the popular trekking routes of the Annapurna Circuit trial and then branch off from Koto to the off-beaten track to the Nar Phu Valley, north of Manang and then cross the exciting Kang La Pass. The Kang La Pass links Nar with Manang and three other Bhotia villages in the Neyshang valley.

Although the entrance to the valley may seem tad too narrow and forested, the valley opens up to give beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding – ancient villages, high altitude grazing land.

The beautiful view of the western mountain range including Annapurna mountain range from the Nar Phu valley and Kang La Pass is hypnotic. Nar and Phu are two beautiful primordial villages. You can witness and be part of very interesting culture of the mountain people, that has flourished even after centuries of hardships. The people of Nar and Phu do agriculture in the little fertile land they have. We can visit the historical Tashi Lakhang Gommpa and receive blessings from Lama Karma Sonam Rimpoche.

The government of Nepal has decided to open up the beautiful region of Nar and Phu with no restrictions, which has evoked enthusiasm among the village dwellers. From here, we can also go trekking to Ratna Chuli, Kang Guru, Himlung and Gyajing Kang. Annapurna Conservation Area Project is concocting plans to extend tourism promotion programs in the beautiful Nar Phu Valley.
